There are many wonderful friends in the zodiac but there are none like a Sagittarius.

The Sagittarius is often confused as the quietest person in the room but that doesn’t mean they’re always quiet. When this sign trusts you and confides in you, they also let their guard down. By letting their guard down, you get to see their goofy, often dry sense of humor that makes you appreciate them so much more.

A Sagittarius will stand with you and help you fight your battles when you feel like you can’t anymore. They are going to act as tough as…

Remember Whiskey Wednesdays? When we’d stay up too late for a work night, drinking alcohol we could barely swallow in an attempt to look cool? Even though it was just us at your place.

The truth is that whiskey goes down smoother but it doesn’t have the same kick it did without you there. We were those people that used to really love being around each other. And our friends were jealous of not only our relationship but the fact that we were best friends. …

My mother has always told me that I have a gift that not many people have; the ability to love people no matter what. I’ve never seen it as a gift but more as just a part of me. If I can give love to the people who feel broken or unlovable or not worthy then maybe they can start to love themselves too. There are different points in everyone’s life when we struggle and we all need someone to just help us get through. …

Love is supposed to be patient

Instant gratification. Modern dating and instant gratification go hand and hand. And I’d love to sit here and tell you that I’m an exception to the rule. Fuck getting to know someone when I can have what I want from them in 10 minutes. I don’t want to know your deep dark secrets when I can get in and get out without a trace of feelings. Feelings just get you into trouble. Trouble that no one has time to deal with anymore.

My need for instant gratification leads me to realize too late that I actually care about someone.

This debut author’s story The Company Daughters will leave you breathless

English professor, Samantha Rajaram, is changing the writing world by creating pieces about events in history and how they affect marginalized people. Her debut novel The Company Daughters will leave readers wanting more.

Samantha Rajaram — I’m an English professor at Chabot College in Hayward, CA and I’m based in Redwood City.

I write about little-known policies/events in history and how they affect marginalized people. I find my ideas in the course of researching for books already in progress. Perhaps because of my own experience as an Indian-American growing up in Wyoming, feeling simultaneously invisible and uncomfortably conspicuous in my…

Your name is still the one I hover over any time I get good or bad news. Your name is still the one that comes to mind the second I’m excited about something. You’re the person I think want to talk to when things are just not making sense anymore.

But you’re the one who chose not to be here. You’re the one who packed their things and moved out. You‘re the one who made the decision and I was just the person passively participating.

Except you leaving was the best thing that ever happened to me. I think about…

Even if it doesn’t feel like it right now

There’s a moment when it’s over where you just stand in the aftershocks of a broken relationship. You can ricochet from the first initial blast, but the rippling waves of pain that continue to flow through you will bring you to your knees.

The problem with the aftershocks is it usually doesn’t happen immediately after a breakup. It’s going to happen when you’re driving, and that song comes on the radio that takes you back to the first time you danced together. It’s going to come when you have something big to share, and you can’t call them. …

Inspiration is something that can come in a variety of different ways. Sometimes it’s a playlist. Sometimes some other writer’s article. Sometimes it’s even the weather.

But for me, it was you who made me feel inspired again.

My heart may have been frozen solid for the last few years, but you reminded me that there was a reason that even when we think we can’t, we can find a spark again. That spark led me to being ignited from head to toe with a buzzing feeling that I had been missing.

While I’d love to talk about all of…

Being a hopeless romantic in the modern age has taught me a lot of lessons all about love.

Is there ever a point in our lives where we should give up on love? Where we should throw in the towel and just be content with not finding another person to let into our hearts? I don’t think so. I don’t think that we should ever look at life and think that love will never find us.

Does what we drive or what we wear or what we do really matter at the end of the day? Why do we set impossibly high standards on what we’re looking for in another person? High standards are great but if it’s…

I’m scared. I’ve never said those words before to someone like you. I’ve never had those words said to me by someone like you either.

Sure, I’ve said I’ve loved people before but it’s not like this. I didn’t say those three words while staring into someone’s eyes while our fingers are intertwined. I haven’t said those words so slow and deliberate that the receiver feels every ounce of the weight I mean them in the depths of their soul. …
